Lyrics
It was a year with little snowpack and a summer hot and dry
All it took was a flash of lightning to set alight the timber and the sky
Out of control on Dragon Mountain the wind picked up around midnight
forcing the mule deer off the hillside and we could see that dragon in the night
Burning high on the mountain
Burning all along the slope
Burning high on the mountain
Consuming it with fire and with smoke
Burning high on Dragon Mountain
Burning up the lodgepole pine
Burning high on the mountain
That dragon burning up the mountainside
The sky above was orange and hazy and the town was gripped with fear
Ashes falling all around us felt like the apocalypse was near
And when the flame come off that mountain a lot of folks were leaving town
but some of them would not surrender and chose to stare that dragon down, that’s
Burning high on the mountain
Burning all along the slope
Burning high on the mountain
Consuming it with fire and with smoke
Burning high on Dragon Mountain
Burning up the lodgepole pine
Burning high on the mountain
That dragon burning up the mountainside
With the brush just like a matchstick the water bombers fell behind
That rolling black-smoke hearted devil dug in and refused to be confined
Just like Saint George who slayed the dragon to our prayers an answer came
When the rain fell from the Heavens it went and doused that dragons flame, from
Burning high on the mountain
Burning all along the slope
Burning high on the mountain
Consuming it with fire and with smoke
Burning high on Dragon Mountain
Burning up the lodgepole pine
Burning high on the mountain
That dragon burning up the mountainside
That dragon burning up the mountainside
That dragon burning up the mountainside
