Lyrics
The Puzzle
words and music by Michael Patrick Vitale
Auks and fowl
in fluttering crowds
With smallest of wings
Gregarious birds
Living in herds
On islands of pumice and volcanic activity
The only creatures living in clouds
Are abstracted from imagining crowds
Of tourists starring up at the sky
Looking for some sort of resemblance to sort and classify
Oh hey
I would be the first to admit that I don't understand it
Oh well
It's a design where it seems like the answer's omitted
Be free to speculate to your heart's content
It doesn't matter if you ever find a reason to rhyme
When the pieces of the puzzle are infinite
The world is odd and isn't obliged to make any sense
Mathematics and science
The religious and pious
Eternal discoveries or human inventions?
Putting all conventions aside
It's like an ostrich head buried alive
She isn't hiding herself in sand
She's rotating eggs
But like observing which came first
It's easy to misunderstand
Oh hey
I would be the first to admit that I don't understand it
Oh well
It's a design where it seems like the answer's omitted
Be free to speculate to your heart's content
It doesn't matter if you ever find a reason to rhyme
When the pieces of the puzzle are infinite
[bad ass break]
Oh hey
I would be the first to admit that I don't understand it
Oh well
It's a design where it seems like the answer's omitted
Be free to speculate to your heart's content
It doesn't matter if you ever find a reason to rhyme
When the pieces of the puzzle are infinite
