The chase leads Scambot to a cliff overlooking the sea. He’s cornered by Quaigo’s men. Kootch and the Quiet Children are no longer in sight, having run off in other directions; gunfire is heard in the distance. Scambot’s heart thumps; he notices that his heartbeat sounds like the intro to “Bad Alchemy” by Slapp Happy/Henry Cow, and he sings along with it, which calms him. Quaigo’s men descend upon Scambot.
He steps off the cliff and is welcomed by the roiling foam of the sea, is enveloped in a Technicolor under- water paradise (influenced visually by the “Porpoise Song” section of Head, and maybe The Incredible Mr. Limpet). Scambot floats to and fro, smiles, sinks blissfully downward. Oops! Starting to drown.
