Reflections by Mike Gilbar
This album is a mix of songs written by Dana Armstrong and me over a period of about 40 plus years. It is exactly what the title describes: reflecting on our younger years as well as where we currently are in our lives. Recording and mixing these songs was the ultimate musical expression for us and bringing in my siblings for backup vocals made it even better. From the country tune "Going Home" right through to the end track, a beautifully sad "Hole In the Sky"; from the love song "Reflections (For Kris)" through the acoustic folk song "By Your Side"; and from the electronic crazy lyrics of "All Messed Up" to the almost bluesy gritty "Sticks and Stones", are years of life, loss, love and hard lessons.
A special thanks to Dana, a friend for the last 60 years, and a songwriter I have always admired. His writing style complements mine and I was thrilled to work with him on this project. I hope you enjoy listening as much as I did recording all the songs in this album.

Mike Gilbar, a sixth generation Vermonter, is a retired CFO who spent the 1970s through the 80s playing in several weekend bands before turning to folk music. In the late 1990s when his day job took up more time, he ended performing in public and now, in retirement, has taken up where he left off: recording songs written in his early years along with newer material.
