I tell the man at the front to set the controls for the heart of whatever it is out there and leave him to it.
Sometimes I get so bored up here. It's all I can do to view the patterns in front of me to keep me from falling into reverie.
I'm expected to say stuff. Clever stuff. But I really cannot find the will to do so. I just wish I was home again. Home and alone. And without all this dreadful sense of responsibility about me. And there is the equally dreadful weight of expectation too. What my father did before me and what I should fall into doing as well.
I really yearn to have someone come up to me and tell me that the order is given and that I have to stand down. I wouldn't even mind if he was to point a weapon at me to do so. He would have no idea how much I would welcome the choice of having no choice at all. That's what I dream of when I am alone, and I am staring at the walls of the little room I have to call home, wishing there was a window where I could just see a tree.
