Cantus by Mike Dickson

It's perhaps ironic that a word such as this describes one or many voices raised in song, yet the sounds within contain almost everything but the sound of the earliest human instruments.
Any voices you may hear within are the product of careful synthesis, simulation or imitation. The music comes to you through three processes: composition, accident or outright robbery, not in equal measure. Some things were arrived at quickly, other arrived at through a more considered approach. Robbery happens quickest of all, and so it is used freely throughout the work.
Of all abstractions, this is the least abstract. The most subjective. The most grounded. The voice of the Cantus is not that of people, but of a mechanical spirit that lacks the ability to encompass the level of the abstract the others in the series may enjoy. Some of this isn't even beyond the voices on the radio.
