In Sequence by Mick Chillage

"In Sequence" is the result of various experimentations mainly utilising the Korg Sq1 Sequencer along with the Moog Grandmother, the Korg MS20 Mini & the Deopfer MS-404 which are all analogue mono synths.

I would create various patches and then set to work creating sequences on the SQ1 often getting the SQ1 to have all of the synths running at the same time and capturing a live jam through my mixing desk for several minutes while manipulating and altering each synth on the fly.

Other moments would involve capturing just one synth sequence and then over dubbing another completely different sequence over it, often repeating this process a few times until I felt I had a strong musical idea.

In some cases performing some polyphonic parts on the Prophet Rev2 along with some programmed poly rhythms of various genre styles also once recorded each audio part may have been further edited in the digital world & of course additional FX and mixing and arrangement until I had a piece that felt complete as a track rather than just an on the fly jam.

I deviated with my sonic tools on "Sequence Pt.3" where I returned solely to my Waldorf Pulse 2 which I had not used in some time this gave me a burst of fresh inspiration and one of the sequences is maybe reminiscent of synth part used on Herbie Hancock's "Rain Dance" from his legendary "Sextant" album, this was not intentional but I was pleased to create a similar aesthetic & sequence by accident which was originally created on a Arp 2600 back in 1972.

Overall the tracks contained explore various themes & genres from Berlin School, 90s electronica, Techno, Experimental IDM & Ambient to Jungle etc as I really wanted to explore what was possible with one sequencer and limited semi modular analogue synths/standard synths.
