there’s more miles behind me now than are left up the road
no amount of worn leather seem to lessen the load
I haven’t gathered much except a limp along the way
is it all meant to be so hard well it’s just so hard to say

doesn’t make much difference if you leave or stay
more often than not well it’s just plain hard to tell
