The heart of this album was born from grief--not always my own--yet emerged with surprising lift, and a kind of strange beauty. Rosalyn's Mudbird, pictured above, captures this for me: this beautiful effort to thrive among the often heavy stuff of the world. The songs collected here are sincere, but they were written to be private. They owe their freedom to the warmth and invitation of Suz Slezak. Her extraordinary talents, along with the magic intuition of Daniel Goans, opened up hidden stores of emotion within the songs themselves. True servants of the sound. I sincerely hope you too find something here to enjoy.

African born, Canadian raised, Gavin has been writing most of his life: literary fiction, plays, screenplays, and documentary treatments. This is his first foray into song.
Based now in Charlottesville, he plays traditional Irish music, works as a therapist, and enjoys three amazing daughters.
This effort is dedicated to them.
