Amuleto by Merca Bae

For his first solo EP in six years, Madrid-via-Salamanca DJ-producer Alejandro Silva aka Merca Bae lands on the Club Romantico label. Heavily influenced by his early years clubbing in the sweat-dripping chambers of the UK underground, Amuleto refines Merca Bae’s sonic identity that’s been steadily melded by rigorously touring between LATAM, the US, Spain and beyond.

Years in the making, Amuleto is a body of work which encapsulates Merca Bae’s career up until this point. From the clattering jungle breaks of “Br48”, the huge rave hoover of “La Sonora,” or the relentless marching drums of his collaboration with rising Venezuelan producer WOST. If there’s one thing that's on full display, it’s that Merca Bae knows how to deliver high-NRG club music with clinical precision.

For remixes, Merca Bae recruits the likes of JASSS, who delivers a blistering head-rush version of “La Sonora”. Muskatt, a new alias of Murlos, joins the fray with an incredibly catchy version of “Br48,” transforming the original jungle breaks and bassline into an infectiously skippy hoods-up garage affair. Rounding off the heady package, New York legend Jubilee brings her Miami bass approach to “Cruces” and injects it to deadly effect. Undeniable club pressure across the board, Merca Bae delivers a body of club heat that’s bound to rattle any system you run it through.
