Ahora Remixes by Melenas
Beloved Spanish indie band Melenas have dropped the first single off their upcoming “Ahora Remixes” EP! The band says “…we loved the idea of our songs going through the creative filter of people we admire. We were intrigued and excited at the idea of how other artists would listen, get and translate our songs; what new structures they would suggest, what was each one of them going to bring, giving them a new life. Each participant chose the song they wanted to remix and we went through a period of much expectation and excitement whilst they were working on it.”
The digital-only EP features collabs with notables such as Tim Gane (Stereolab), Peanut Butter Wolf, Fermin Göo, LavLab & last but not least Hidrogenesse, the remixers of the first single; a clubby, thumping version of ‘K2’. The band says "We are very grateful to all of them for their implication and very happy with the results. It’s surprising and moving to listen to the group of remixes, each one in a different style, in each case super characteristic of the artists who took part in it. As if by magic, all of them have taken our songs to new, unexpected territories which, at the same time, keep the essence of the songs and embody everything we like."
