Stomachville by Incentive Dry
"Stomachville" is an enormous residential compound that huge enough to contain everything.
The newly formed Incentive Dry visited "Stomachville" and stayed long with no surprises.
They tried to deal with the arrangements of the compound. They tried to work, fall in love, and write songs there. They also got laid off, became stalkers, reached bottlenecks, occasionally struggled with existential issues, hijacked airplanes... and often lost contact with the outside world.
A former resident of "Stomachville" said that nothing may break out as it was. Rather than moving in and out, the process is more like being swallowed, digested, and excreted by the system.
The disclosed audio files and notes here seem to be damaged, yet one of the pages is vaguely legible: "To get rid of ■■, we came here. But it's the same as any other place: ●◆▲."
Are these memories about a shared history of us?
Stomachville is a collection of songs created between 2020 to 2022. As a band formed and developed under COVID era, Incentive Dry could hardly deny the influence, in terms of the perspectives and narratives of the songs.
The majority of the materials are about the members' confusion of their identity as creative individuals in the certain period when pressures of ideologies and its social reactions seemed to be so evident and irresistible.
"Stomachville" is not only the concept of the album, but also a metaphor of the current Chinese social landscape that digests, dissolves, and excretes the "common sense".
Traces from genres such as shoegaze, alt-rock, industrial, IDM, jazz, noise, ambient can be discovered in the sound spectrum of the album. Incentive Dry intends to explore its own iconic soundscape in the puzzles left by the predecessors.
