Grey Area by Max Zaitlin

First and foremost... I must say; I wasn't expecting to be thrown into the stew. Sticky and rich in texture this album leaves you'll feeing like Snuffleupagas in hot warm tub of jello accompanied by Chomsky and hue. Personal yet out spoken you can hear the lyrics weaving in his head as he's out smok'n. The album leaves with a sense of confession while teetering on the mundane..... btw.... While I favour the lyrics in "Sinnertown", It renders me baffled with confusion as I feel like I'm accidentally high on dissociates and stuck in an echo chamber at the same time.

"This is wistful drift, like a lost zephyr or a wraith out of place. Listen slowly and the inchoate melodies unfurl. Max Zeitlin lilts and sways and creates gulfs no yawning physicist can rearrange. It’s nature music, the nature of being one swathe of a spectral prism. Besides the cover of Territorial Pissings, a reminder that even the gentlest doe can sniff and piss its own, another key notable is It’s Coming Down. The latter has bones, like a cottonwood tree shimmering with leaves. Here in the Okanagan Valley, on certain summer days, white cottonwood fluffs drift down by the bajillions. They blanket the surface of the lake like lost white doves and are much like these songs. Not lost, just floating."
