Laodica by Maurice Rickard
For nearly the last ten years, I've been writing and recording at least one new piece of music each week. I do a lot on a weekly cadence: this composition project, my weekly ambient performances and releases as snwv (https://snwv.bandcamp.com). A week seems to have the right amount of imminent pressure, without the deadline being too alarmingly close. I wouldn't have thought I'd do as many of these as I have, but earlier this year I finished 500th piece. Taking step after step, we can travel a long way.
These pieces are just guitar, with few effects. (I bought a Uni-Vibe recently; it shows up on two pieces.) I liked the idea of just plugging in and playing--it seemed more immediate than working with a lengthy effect chain. It became a challenge: how much can I do with one (mostly) un-affected guitar? These pieces are an answer to that question.
