Lyrics
Waterman, waterman down
Down in the dumps there under the ground
Waterman, waterman up
Up in the heavens with wine in his cup
There was a man without a name who came ashore our town one day
His life was born upon a boat to eat bologna by the bay
He was blind to the way he made the young one’s dream grow bright and gay
And drive them up against the family doors until they ran away
Where he drifted, in his wake animals and children came
Towns of trash were left behind and buried in my brain
We told the man enough is enough and followed him with a garbage truck
We got the trash, we got the man and put his body in the land
Maybe Jesus will forgive us for putting his dogs to sleep
But the way they used to run and bark they needed to rest in peace
And when he comes to join them he’ll be riding a boat of food
Full of cheese and hotdog meat to sooth their hungry blues
