Self Isolation by Matt Derda & the High Watts
When the Covid-19 pandemic happened all of our gigs got cancelled. I wanted to try to what I could to take advantage of the time. I had this idea to record a batch of songs in my basement. Just me, my guitars and Garageband.
This is the result of months of writing, recording and fine tuning. This is a collection of songs I've written, traditional folk songs and covers by Neil Young and The Replacements.
It took a ton of work for me to figure out how to arrange these songs and then get them to sound halfway decent with Garageband. It was a huge experiment, but I think some of my best work. I hope you like it.

Matt Derda & The High Watts, a Folk Rock group from the Chicago area, combines storytelling with resonant melodies.
Blending Rock N Roll riffs with Eastern Kentucky roots, they've created a unique sound that captures the essence of Johnny Cash's Nashville and the grit of rock acts like The Replacements.
