'Passage' is the new full-length album from Greek composer, mastroKristo, once again assembling the sublime trio behind the acclaimed debut, 'Departures'. 'Passage' is both a companion album and further exploration of the original works for piano, tuba, bassoon and tape. This time the symphony unfolds through the corridors of transformation, between sorrow and hope, leading the harmonious journey to its final destination.

The nine songs that form 'Passage' began by inviting four artists to reinterpret well-loved pieces from the 'Departures,' artists who could confidently rework the material while still allowing it to inhabit the same sound world previously established by mastroKristo. At the heart of this collaboration, the eclectic roster of Claire Deak, Aaron Martin, Federico Mosconi and The Phonometrician bring together a rich tapestry of influences and instrumental prowess that blends seamlessly with mastroKristo's signature sound from 'Departures.' In addition to this collaborative element, 'Passage' introduces five new compositions written during final reflections on the material. What began as nocturnal explorations to usher in comfort and rest during a period of global isolation, are now met with a world that has only seemed to quicken its pace since that time. No doubt there is a great amount of reconciliation and healing still required, yet 'Passage' finalizes this period of conceptual work from mastroKristo with a similar hope of providing respite in a time of compounding unrest.

'Departures' achieved remarkable acclaim from press and audiences worldwide, even capturing the attention of NPR’s Tom Huizenga who remarked "With its softly swaying rhythm and bittersweet tune, could be the musical score to a dream, as if you've stumbled upon a ramshackle piano in a dimly lit attic. You can almost hear the dust pluming off the felt hammers…” Further more, 'Departures’ drew three consecutive sold-out performances at the National Observatory of Athens. Its live presentation was meticulously captured on video, a visual testament that will soon be shared.

mastroKristo is a naive multimedia artist and music producer, based in Athens, Greece.
Woodworker, Tea&Herb Shop owner, Musician, Engineer and recently a father.
He composes music for contemporary dance performances and produce music for major Greek and international artists.
He introduced himself as an artist via the interactive audiovisual installation: Synaesthesia - Solomon's Case in 2016.
