Delicious by Mason/Saunders

This collection of pop songs by Dare Mason and Hud Saunders makes you wonder why none of them went on to be chart hits. Admittedly the production leaves a little to be desired but these are demos recorded in Mason’s home studio.
The pair assembled a diverse collection of artists to perform their songs. The main singers seem to be Los Pantelones, a group consisting of Hannah, Catarina and Carlos. An outstanding contributor is Deb Saloman, daughter of Nick Saloman who fronts the cult psychedelic band, Bevis Frond. Then there is MC Platty and The Flirt, who get to grips with the more funky and soulful material.
It is difficult to pigeon hole the style of this album, other than to loosely file it under ‘pop’. There is a boy band ballad, teeny style pop, reggae, latino and even a rock track. The common denominator is the quality of songwriting and the feeling of freshness and innocence.

Back in the late 90's, at the height of the boy band/girl band craze, Dare Mason and Hud Saunders wrote and produced these pop song demos in Dare's bedroom studio in Shepherds Bush.
Despite being signed to a succession of managers and interest from major labels, the pair never managed to break into the big time.
Consequently all these songs are still available to cover.
