"Wishes" by Maskoff

Recorded in one continuous take at an old forest-surrounded warehouse, on a late hot beautiful summer Lisbon evening, to a very small and sympathetically silent audience, as well as to a few joyfully friendly tree-dwelling acquiescing birds.

The essence and concept behind this recording was to capture the moment and inherent eternity within it, where perfectionism and technical precision were generally disregarded, left unanalyzed and unmeddled, leaving bare the blemishes and failings of my purest nature as a musician and human being having a subliminal and transcendental experience.

I believe the best way to listen to this album is in complete silence, preferably with the lights off, at about the volume a natural unamplified voice and acoustic guitar would be in your room.

I wrote & composed the songs on this album* and sang and played a 5-string acoustic guitar on them.

*Roly Lavorel wrote the lyrics to Light of Truth in his diary in 1977. He died shortly after in a tragic car accident, in Avignon. Richard Barry, my father, was a great friend of his as well as a musical companion. He wrote most of the music to this song. I changed it slightly with his approval shortly before he parted. I still have Roly's diary and the original lyrics to this song. I like to see it as their gift and message to the world.
