Ever wonder what a socialist America would sound like? We crafted this sonic journey through the public parks that form the beating heart of our alternate United States - spaces where revolution breathes between jazz riffs and boom bap beats.

"Common Canvas" follows a day in the life of our collective parks, from morning chess games to evening lantern lightings. Each track captures a different perspective: children with their red balloons, volunteers on the park watch roster, agitators spreading the word, and even the silent park keeper closing up at night.

We layered vintage Soviet samples with warm vinyl crackles to create that feeling of stepping into a shared space that truly belongs to all of us. The album builds through the morning calm of "Statue's Gaze," reaches its powerful climax during the "People's Square Rally," and gently winds down as the park lanterns illuminate our collective tomorrow.

This isn't just music about parks – it's about what happens when public spaces become truly public, when leisure isn't a privilege but a right, when children play freely under the watchful eye of their community rather than under the thumb of capital.

We recorded most of this during actual park sessions in our neighborhood last summer. The chess pavilion beats were built from recordings of actual games, with the click of pieces on boards becoming our percussion. The crowd chants in "Solidarity Hymn" came from our local community meeting.
