PITY WINTER : it may be that I’m a prisoner of all that I believe/it may be I’ve been captured ‘n yet i claim I’m free/still I wont leave yr memory /to strangers that would sneer/at gifts that you are leaving/and all the things you bequeath. it may be I’m a prisoner/right here where I was born/in some way undivided/from passing time careworn … /for all that i’m born into,/this world that i receive i’m born to a fate and fortune/not of my own hand or beliefs . cruel rain – winter black/harsh night – to break yr back,/this won’t be yr fortune – for I wont allow you that . this fortune I shall fight – this pity, this winter blight … tho black star and doomed fate/be on yr head, I’ll turn it away, it wont be yr fortune – /for I wont allow you that fate .
