Last Greyhound

I was standing just off highway 16
When the last greyhound rolled by
It was pretty big news in our town
All these people were wondering why

My Aunt Dolores said it was a stupid call
Now how will we ever get out ?
Not everybody owns a car here
Sometimes I just wanna’ scream and shout

That bus took us places nobody else would go
We’d hear -Why would anybody live here
My Uncle would meet us at the station
We’d stay and watch the big greyhound disappear
stay and watch the big Greyhound disappear

the smell of 4 am in the depot
food somebody could not keep down
just slide over a few blue plastic seats
Hey, I was on my way to another town

My mother used to say living out here
You can feel so left behind
And a way out
Is never easy to find
