Lyrics

The first man on the moon passed away
His heart clocked out in a hospital ward
The second man got a call down the line
He stared at his walls and thought about time

You can leave the earth on a rocket that burns
But death will be waiting for you to return
For you turn to die
Take your place in line
When your turn comes to die.

A service was held over the following days
Prayers of gods read by astronauts
The stained glass shone in the pale afternoon
When they hired a singer to sing fly me to the moon

You can play amongst the stars, see Spring on Jupiter or Mars
But all that will be left of your life is memoirs
After you close your eyes
For the final time
After you close your eyes for good.

Some say a year is just another trip around the sun
But one by one those trips all add up
Until you’re gone.

The first man on the moon passed away
He lived to be 82
But he answered to days, and surrendered to seconds
Just like we all must do.
