Blue Lake by Open Loose
This recording is from an appearance on “Jazz From Blue Lake” on September 30, 2001 hosted by Lazaro Vega. We embarked on a two week tour beginning on September 25th, two weeks after the traumatic events of 9/11. The ongoing impact of 9/11 created an oppressive atmosphere in our daily lives in New York City and the opportunity to leave the city for a time and play our music was a liberating option. We traveled through the midwest and discovered that people everywhere seemed to experience these events in much the same way, lack of proximity notwithstanding. What you are hearing on this recording is the ensemble exploring pieces that were later released on a studio album.
