This music was published by the Setola di Maiale label in 2011 ( www.setoladimaiale.net/catalogue/view/SM2120 ). It is a testimony of the human and artistic encounter with Gianni Lenoci that began in the late 80s and continued fruitfully until about 2012. In all those years ours was an almost daily "laboratory", we created several musical works and fantastic encounters with many artists (including Kent Carter, Joelle Leandre, Steve Potts, John Tchicai, William Parker, Evan Parker and several other significant musicians on the world scene). We faced many languages and practiced jazz, improvisation/instant composition, and several other creations together. Our regret was always not to easily find in our region of residence, Puglia, the same listening and comparison that we achieved elsewhere, together or separately. The collaboration then led us to different choices around 2012, other needs and personal problems had arisen. In any case, that music and that spirit are still present for me in the music produced after and even now, not with a sense of memory or remembrance but as a living experience. From the end of the 90s until 2005 I shared the artistic direction of Fonomanie in Bari with Roberto Ottaviano, in the early years of the new century I shared with Gianni his project Sextant ( actuellecd.com/en/album/1280-sextant ): we merged the names as well as the ideas and Fonosextant was born. The idea was to indicate our "other" possible directions in music and thought and to create a "virtuous" network with other artists and we partly succeeded, later I tried to bring that spirit and many significant artists linked to the language of improvisation/instant compositions to several meetings organized by me (between 2013 and 2022). For this occasion Roberto Del Piano organized the concert in Pavia (here is a part of it) and Matthias Boss organized the dates in Switzerland in Bienne, Bern, etc. They were fantastic days of course, I met Gianni Mimmo with whom I later played together with Tristan Honsinger and Harri Sjostrom. With us the dancer Norontako Bagus Kentus of whom here you will only hear his vocal contribution.
Thanks to the work with Gianni, his piano playing and architectures I have been able to develop and apply different aspects of my drumming, as I am doing with all the other "meetings" (previous, of that time and current) I always hope for evolution and awareness, the journey continues on the chosen and possible routes, in a world that changes as it is in nature but that does not seem to evolve towards or beyond new possible horizons, between space and time.

"(...) Registrato fra Svizzera ed Italia, durante un tour nel 2010, “Fonosextant” si attesta (come è usanza in casa Setola), dalle parti dell'eccellenza. Cinque composizioni istantanee, per un'espressione complessiva, libera e tumultuosa. Free, impro, sezioni contemporanee, rifrazioni classiche. Tradizione, slancio, passione. Cruda dialettica, quella esibita. Sincera e rigorosa. Roots music ad alta temperatura, combattiva e sottilmente malinconica. Un battito inesauribile a strattonare il tutto. Ci trovate: Gianni Lenoci (piano, elettronica), Gianni Mimmo (sax soprano), Matthias Boss (violino), Marcello Magliocchi (batteria e percussioni), Norontako Bagus Kentus (voce), Angelo Contini (trombone), Roberto Del Piano (basso elettrico). La delizia dell'osare. Settanta copie numerate; muovetevi." M. Carcasi, Kathodik 2012.
