10 tracks, thirty-five minutes. Adam Bohman's voice recites his unpredictable collage texts from time to time. His fingers grip, scratch, rub the strings stretched over objects glued and amplified by micro-contacts (playing cards, large beer glasses, wooden clothespins, boxes, light bulbs, springs, obsolete credit cards). These sound effects find a bewildering echo in the treatment of metallic percussions by Marcello Magliocchi at microphone range. Fans of lovenseries, turnerages, prevostilles, centazzogies, lê-quanhismes etc ... must absolutely listen. Its sonorous ends put in perspective, create a depth of field for the screeching of the lunatic objetist. The percussionist manipulates a rare sound sculpture with amazing acoustic properties. Adrian Northover and Marcello Magliocchi have established an intense working relationship within the Runcible Quintet (Dan Thompson, Adrian, Marcello, Neil Metcalfe, John Edwards) and in momentary associations with double bass player Okamoto, guitarist Phil Gibbs, and here Adam Bohman . As for Bohman, he forms a flabbergasted trio with blowers Sue Lynch and Adrian Northover: The Custodians. Adrian brings here a lyrical dimension, a physical breath in this metallic and often reverberated universe. Some of these short pieces showcase Adam’s improbable British diction in contact with bowed or even indescribable (metal) percussion. Others focus on the lively exchange between the twisted and tortured alto sax and the squeaks, whistles, metallic vibrations of the infernal sculpture designed and manufactured by sculptor Andrea Dami. The recordings with it were made in Monopoli in Puglia. Those featuring Marcello's gongs and cymbals were recorded at the OXO Studio on the banks of the Thames. The finale with the soprano sax in the high treble and hand-struck gongs (!) Fulfills its function wonderfully by closing this rare unclassifiable anthology. Listening carefully to Föhn reveals many surprises and secret moments. Ethereal, vibrational, intense, defiant, rustling, squeaky, intergalactic waterfalls, poetry of the least effort, cold bohmanian sarcasm. Three well-typed personalities who imprint their secret marks in the intervals of the absolute.
