Mods & Gods by Mal Thursday Quintet

MODS & GODS is Mal Thursday Quintet's difficult second album, recorded with the Texas, New England, and Northwest chapters between 2017 and 2025. Special guests include Nelson Bragg (Brian Wilson Band, M-Squad, et al.) from Los Angeles, Austin guitarslinger Jamey Simms, and from Boston, David Champagne and Jim Fitting, who re-created their parts on Treat Her Right's "Picture of the Future." Of the dozen tracks on the album, three -- "A Smell of Honey, A Swallow of Brine!," "The Defilers," and "Kitten with a Whip" -- are representative of the Quintet's sub-specialty, which is writing original theme songs to '60s movies that didn't originally have theme songs. Limited edition LP released by Teen Sound Records on 27 February 2026, CD by Chunk Archives Recordings 20 February 2026.
