Lifelines by Roger Riley
In Dec 2017 my great uncle Roger reached out to me and told me he had a song come to him in a dream. His wife's Alzheimers was getting to its end and he was thinking about life and the other side. He came to my garage in Ventura and we recorded that song he wrote called "I want to see Jesus". I saw him sparsely over the next few years but we always talked about recording again. Finally, in July 2023 when he was 90, I went to his house and brought some recording gear. I recorded him on his dinky ukulele he called "Bad Boy", accompanied by his friend Pam on the couch. "Lifelines" was the name of the book he wrote about caring for a partner with Alzheimers. About two years later, Roger passed away. In the last year of his life, he had travelled to both Africa and Europe. He was 92.
