As Edith sat scratching away
a sea-letter, one-dozen-paged,
she looked down upon it, expression grave,
and softly she sighed, tore up the paper, threw the paragraphs away.
Her pencil fell against the deck.
It rolled away. Her giraffely neck,
she looked down upon it, expression changed.
She knelt down, clutching her skirt, and Regis came and swung his blade down upon her.
Her Body fell against the deck.
It rolled away, her head and neck.
He looked down upon her, expression plain.
Her quietness interrupted me, and took my eye to the floor and Her Body.
She was leaking, her glass sight burning, staring me in the face was Her Body.
Then she spoke suddenly and softly, black tar words dripping off Her Body:
“I’ve seen god and there is no heaven.” She caught fire and we lost Her Body.
