Kingdoms by Magic Room Echoes

We experimented a lot on this one, every song is different from the last. We had many different influences while writing Kingdoms, including but not limited to; Psychedelic, Electronic, Shoegaze, Dream Pop, Trip Hop, and obviously Post-Rock. We recorded this album entirely at home, honestly using cheap equipment. We’re somewhat proud of that. The vocal explorations were a risk for us, it’s something we’ve never been that comfortable with. We ultimately decided “why not?”, it’s okay if people don’t like what we’re doing. Also we brought in the help of Joan Arnau Pàmies of Protomaterial Records for Mixing and Mastering. Joan did an awesome job, his work really elevated the sound of the album. Kingdoms is not a conventional album, it’s weird but still accessible. It’s certainly hard to classify. Perhaps we lack direction, but we had a ton fun exploring and recording this album, and we hope the few that find it and appreciate it have fun too.

MRE was started by two lifelong friends that began playing music together as teenagers in Colorado. They reunited a decade later to start writing and recording music again remotely from Denver and St. Louis. By combining a wide range of influences including post-rock, electronic, ambient, shoegaze, psychedelic, and hardcore, the resulting sound is organic, nostalgic, and experimental.
