Starbound by Maaike Siegerist
Starbound is a collection of six songs about space, inspired by space exploration and vintage sci-fi. The songs touch on the pioneering Russian cosmonauts in the early ‘60s, and portray the Voyager probes that are now in interstellar space, carrying their golden records with information about humanity as we liked to see ourselves in the late ‘70s. We hear the swan song of the ERS-2 satellite that burned up in our atmosphere last year, after 30 years of faithful service, during which it taught us much about climate change. The EP closes with Starbound, a love song for Star Trek, set against a retro-futuristic soundscape.
