Trolls from eightysixfortyfive (EP) by M4TR

"Trolls" was born out of the digital battleground, where bad-faith arguments and bottom-feeding discourse thrive. Written in the era when social media became a gladiator pit of bots and bad actors, it’s a satirical gut-punch aimed at the keyboard warriors who hide behind screens, throwing punches without consequences. It’s the sound of frustration boiling over—at the trolls themselves, at the platforms that enable them, and at the sheer exhaustion of engaging in unwinnable fights.

Musically, Trolls evokes Elvis Costello-style angry piano punk, tight and relentless, with a burning guitar solo from Dave Mallen and a trumpet refrain, nodding to Cake, giving it sneering swagger—almost like the song itself is mocking its subject matter. The chorus doesn’t beg, doesn’t plead—it slams the door shut: I am through with trolls. Just one of many M4TR songs about unplugging from our digital wasteland.
