Lucy Broom and Garrett Smart (Holy City) have been making music together since they were teenagers. They have shared the stage in 10 different bands over the last 20 years, and have been in continuous collaboration on their musical projects. "Borrowed Symmetry" is the continuation of that collaborative tradition, while being an exploration of each artist's independent style at the same time.
With 4 songs from each artist, "Borrowed Symmetry" aims to showcase the breadth of ambition of each artist, ranging in styles from indie-folk to electronic rock. Many of these songs began their journey during the Covid-19 pandemic, when the two artists would share tracks with each other over the internet, with Smart contributing drums to 2 of the 4 songs on Broom's portion of the record.
