Starting off the new year for Lost Light is an absolutely crushing work by Charles Razeur. CR is one of several projects from Damien De Coene, a noise artist from Belgium that has been attacking the wall noise world for the past few years with constant, and consistently impressive albums. This tape stands to be one of his finest works, establishing himself in the outer most territories of the sounds of wall noise. Side A begins with a most unsettling wall, quiet yet disturbing. Recorded in the middle of the night with an apparent ghostly presence in the room, this track displays complete discipline in the minimalism of frequency and tone. Side B continues with a sharp, crackling wall that many will be more familiar with. Coene shows off his skill in harvesting only the most imperative crackles and static, sparing none in the crucial torment of aggressive wall noise. The artwork displays a ghostly figure and illegible logo, a throwback to early death and black metal demos. Very fitting for the tone of this album and the ghostly resonance of the tones.
