'Value' is the third single from Hideous Towns' upcoming debut album Disquiet Living, out on Dec 2, 2016.
The band's most succinct offering yet, โValueโ was recorded primarily at Los Bomberos studios in the band's hometown of Melbourne with Matthew Hosking (VHS Dream) at the helm, with additional tracking undertaken at the Hideous Towns practise space/living room.
Alana West's urgent, powerful vocal bursts forth beyond the entangled post-punk rhythm section and further into the listener's personal space than usual, her direct delivery contrasted by some of her most abstract lyrics to date.
West explores the idea of balance in her life as she attempts to achieve a state of grace, within her own inner world and in the world around her, sagely examining the innate equality of those she encounters in all walks of life.
Catchy and hopeful, 'Value' boasts a timely distinction to the darker, washed-out singles Hideous Towns have released recently, revealing the diverse range the group are capable of injecting into their pop-structured, dreamy post-punk.
