Pink Cloud by Lonesome Doves

Lonesome Doves have been cooking up new music for a few years now. After a big move, they've settled into a serious routine of writing, recording, and now releasing music regularly again. This album marks their fourth full-length release, a triumphant return indeed, with new sounds, attitudes, and vibrations. Scarlett wrote and arranged the bulk of the songs and music while Sean poured much effort into learning and applying some deep production techniques. Most songs were written and demoed during February 2025 as Scarlett participated in February Album Writing Month. Many of these quick demos were eventually sculpted into the completed versions here. This album marks a step up in the aggressive music department, as Lonesome Doves have typically stayed in an acoustically driven lane, with some really rocking exceptions. The listener will find a much louder, beefier, overdriven guitar tone here than on past albums. A Vox AC-10 and a vintage Les Paul have lended much noise to these songs, although the old Mexican Tele makes plenty appearances. Conversely, there are a few spare pieces here that are meant to cleanse the palate before diving into a different vibe. Scarlett's lyrical content is powerfully straightforward, with a typically haunting, vulnerable, majestic vocal delivery. You'll even find our first true explicit material toward the end of the album. Sean even takes a lead vocal at one point. This album has truly been lots of fun to make and express. All credit should go to Scarlett Compton for prompting this artistic endeavor. Our kids also deserve a shout-out for having to listen to these songs so many damn times as we made this art.
