Sunwake from Sunwake EP by Lomea
I wanted this track to be in three distinct parts. There's the dreamy intro section with the staccato rhythm guitar and jazz-influenced piano chords, the hyper-kinetic middle sequence and finally the ambient, acoustic guitar-laden outro which is meant to have an 'after the storm' kind of feel to it. A little story told in 4 minutes. I wanted the change that happens 2 minutes in to be a massive jolt to the system, a violent awakening after the first part lulls people into a false sense of security. Lots of the percussion in the first section is made from tapping the back of a classical guitar, fed through a delay pedal to make rhythmic loops which weave around the other percussive sounds. For ages the working title of the track was Islands Brygge, named after the area in Copenhagen. Reason being, the reverby 'slam' type sounds which form the basis of the drums in the mid section, were recorded at a blocks of flats I stayed at on holiday there a couple of years ago.
