misting sad plants
sat around & thought it about it back then
it dawned on me while ironing my black pants
caramel macchiato in a trash can
i’m hanging up the phone left it unsaid
swishing violet mint killing bad breath
living in the past choosing instead
doing nothing sitting in the grass yeah
got me thinking about

i remember all the past tense
loose thread on your jacket
button wouldn’t fasten
walking back with groceries
while my 2 ear buds bleed
about the rising seas
& all the air we breathe

in slow motion like molasses
silverware in plastic
reflected in your glasses
staring down at anything
the coffee table rings
and other furnishings
from 1993
