Everybody Knows by Little Ways

The plan was to do two singles this year, with fun cover versions on the B-sides, but everything takes ever so slightly longer than you'd hope, so... here's Everybody Knows, and an acoustic session version of Papier Mache, which was going to be the other A-side. Great work, releasing an autumnal song on the antepenultimate day of Autumn.

Everybody Knows is one of those SAD songs that say so much. This one was written many years ago. It's a self portrait; I'm shouting at me, not at you. The guitar solo owes a lot to both Richard Lloyd and Alex Forman.

I probably started with Papier Mache because it's mentioned in Awkward Age by The Mumps, and now I've got a four foot Tracy Island to deal with. You should be warned that this track contains a Stroh fiddle solo, and a weird tritone harmony in the middle eight.

Everybody Knows, and an electrified version of Papier Mache will be on the not particularly forthcoming Little Ways album, hopefully out sometime next year.
