She's already ridiculed you
Reminding you how it is all for your own good
Some days her words cut through like wire
Other days you shake them off like loose rain
All the nights you lay awake and let them burn through
You're not a child in her house
Still you live by her laws

There's a scarlet inner world
That you don't have to control

You know where the dust gathers
Where the rugs get worn
