Dancing Universe from Flashpoint by Linda Dusman

Dancing Universe, a virtuosic, meaty work for piano trio, is written in memory of Dusman’s parents, who both passed in 2015. Quoting bits of their favorite hymns and reflecting upon T.S. Eliot’s poem Four Quartets, it is given a luminous performance by Trio des Alpes, who make the fragmented phrases of birdsong-like melodies, swaying lines, and intricately woven piano part sound organic and effortless. The music pulses with delicacy and intensity, as in much of the composer’s work.

Linda Dusman composes in the sonic terrain between concert music and sound art, often engaging with the natural world and current politics. She constructs her music as a catalyst for listening experiences that create a heightened awareness of the moment.
