Ghetto(빈민-가) by Lim Yong Ju X Noddy Woo
A single, “BINMIN-GA” is a part of an electronic music project “Boong Guai (Collapse)” created by musicians YongJ Lim and Noddy Woo. The project is based on intense and drastic noise, and unstable emotions experienced by the musicians at their studio situated in a Seoul redevelopment area.
In Korea, an urban redevelopment project is usually a process of complete removal of buildings to the ground then building a new set of buildings, rather than renovating or reconstructing already existing and standing buildings. Songs “Barricade” and “BINMIN-GA” are included in the album.
The album is a dynamic electronic music based on analogue modular synth and sampled noise inspired by the loud noise and, the act of powerful hitting and knocking of road crushers referred to as “BBUREKA” in Korean construction sites.

Yongju Lim is a percussionist, composer, and electronic music producer whose work is rooted in traditional Korean rhythms. A former member of Gongmyoung and now part of Modular Seoul, he creates music that bridges traditional and electronic forms through experimental use of traditional instruments. His solo works include Mujangdan (무장단), BBUREKA, The Quing (울릴 굉 轟), and lull~유영.
