I would have chased
The sun away
To hang the moon
To spend every
Night with you,

I tracked the weeks
Til my release
And marked
The lunar-versaries
In blue.

Summer may be cruel,
But it's all I ever knew
Til I met your illusion.

I'd craft a chant
To hear the rain
Beat down every
Day our hearts fell
Out of rhythm,

Hand in hand,
I'd dance
To every corner
Of the universe
With him.

An April fool, I fell
for the magic of
Renewal
Another revolution.

Whispered prayers
Delivered on
The flicker of the
Neighbor's
Front porch light

That shimmered
Through the window
Left cracked open
On a cold
October night

A spell cast
On a moonbeam
Glowing through
The shade,
I thought love was real.

A broken latch
On the garden gate,
Flowers planted
Far too late,

Withered in the weeds
Forgotten,
Still, to be with you,
I'd wait,

Just a shell,
The seed was rotten,
Lost and buried
Underneath
The frosty sheet
Of winter,

And December air
Is bitter,
But I believed
In magic
Til the tragic end.

I closed my eyes
And wished upon
A satellite
Mistaken for
A falling star,

I pleaded to the
Streetlight glare
Shining through
The windshield of
My car.

Crystal glitter frozen
To the wiper blades
As I gripped the wheel.

I would have chased
