Tides by Lentikula
As the title suggests, 'Tides' encapsulates a moment of change and turmoil, both on a global and personal level.
The EP opens with 'Fade', a dark and powerful track with driving drum beats and monumental synths, followed by 'What Gives', which has a more sophisticated arrangement and fuses elements of both ambient/dub electronica and compelling post-punk bass lines and guitars. The second half of the EP opens with lead single 'So Many', a moody ambient garage track reminiscent of the '00s that still manages to convey a sense of hope. "Scrap Nineteen" is the EP's energetic closer, turning into an upbeat, groovy house track, but still retaining some of the lush soundscapes of the earlier titles.
"Tides" is Lentikula's debut EP and was written over the course of several months in early 2024.

Lentikula is the alias of German artist Nils Wolters. He crafts soundscapes that fuse ambient, breakbeats, techno, and post-punk. His musical journey kicked off in the 90s with Mario Paint on the Super Nintendo, later shredding in metal and rock bands. In 2018, Wolters pivoted to electronic music, birthing "Tides," a debut EP that is the result of his musical evolution.
