Legacy Pilots Live? Bringing a studio project to the stage?
Yes, this was an idea I had been carrying around for quite some time. When Steven Rothery offered me the opportunity, I didn’t have to think twice.
The first challenge was figuring out how to bring a studio production—often with 40 or more tracks—to the stage in a way that kept the songs recognisable.
Finding the right musicians, taking responsibility for the set, preparing the songs, and managing the technical aspects was no small task. But I enjoy challenges, and I think we pulled it off quite well.
There was a technical issue with the keyboard channels that couldn’t be resolved right away, causing quite some stress. Luckily, we managed to fix it just before the doors were about to open. From there, we were able to fully focus on the show, and you can definitely feel the energy and enthusiasm of a band making its live debut.
The guys did an amazing job, and I’m incredibly grateful that, in the end, everything came together so well.
I hope listeners enjoy this as much as we enjoyed performing it live.
