Biography of the Band Petros

Formed in July 1979, Petros emerged from the passionate desire of five young Christian musicians to share the gospel message through the power of rock. Deeply inspired by the groundbreaking Christian band Petra, Petros took things further, blending their sound with the sonic elements of AOR giants like Journey, Kansas, Boston, and REO Speedwagon. The result was a unique musical identity that fused faith, virtuosity, and captivating melodies.

The original lineup featured members born in the United States and Europe, all united by a shared faith and a love for the grand sound of melodic rock. European musicians — keyboardist Lukas Meinhardt (from Germany) and guitarist Davide Rossi (from Italy) — moved to the U.S. in their teenage years, settling in Southern California where they met American musicians Michael Rivers (lead vocalist), Joel Carter (bassist), and Ethan Blake (drummer).

Between 1980 and 1981, Petros entered the studio to record their debut album. With vibrant songs and uplifting lyrics centered on faith, perseverance, and hope in Christ, the band seemed poised to break through in the Christian rock scene. However, for reasons never fully explained — involving contractual issues and personal decisions — the material was shelved and never released.

Over time, each member took a different path. Michael Rivers and Joel Carter became pastors in their communities, while Davide, Lukas, and Ethan remained involved in music as worship leaders in their local churches. The dream of fame was set aside — not due to a lack of talent, but out of a conviction that God was calling them in a different direction.

Now, nearly 46 years later, the remaining members have reunited and, to their surprise, discovered the original recordings intact. With today’s technology, they have remastered the material to modern quality standards and are preparing for an official release under the title "Eternal Home" — a name that encapsulates their journey of faith and perseverance.

The first title single, "Rock Will Roll Again," is already available, reviving the vibrant spirit of 1980s Christian AOR with refined arrangements and messages of encouragement, faith, and spiritual renewal. It is a powerful declaration that even after decades of silence, Christian rock still has something to say.

The full album called Eternal Home was finally released, marking a glorious rebirth of a band nearly lost to time — now returning as living proof that God’s plans never fail.
