A song about our excessive gift shopping that makes Santa's yearly job more and more difficult each year, especially when there are many who aren't lucky enough to afford such luxury or even have a roof over their heads.

Created in December 2019 using: Madrona Labs Aalto, FXpansion Strobe2 & Tremor, Cyclone Analogic TT-606, Shake Egg, Jingle Bells, Voice & Guitar. Inspired by Cardiacs (please give them a listen) and Animal Collective, amongst others.

A warm whiskey afterglow
It’s come around again too fast
A Christmas future, present, and the past

Strap in the reins
Put on my gloves
Polish Rudolph’s nose

Pack up my sack
Brush off the snow

My sleigh weighs an absolute ton
How am I going to get this done?
Too many deals, too much commotion
Too much spending, no emotion
Whatever happened to festive cheer
That usually comes this time of year
Shopping for the sake of it
Not sure what to make of all these
Presents that weigh down my aching sleigh
How many more will come my way?
But coursing through the sky I feel
That Christmas spirit, true and real
No need to want and waste and plead
Warmth and love will set us free
Think of all the people without
A home to stay or friends to shout
And dance and sing and laugh with together
Especially in horrible weather
So send your love and care for those
Who are less fortunate than most
Help out whenever you think you can
To anyone in need in the land
Time to tell my reindeer
To kick the engine into fifth gear
