Late great love songs, I can’t remember,
they say “love songs follow the weather,”
and it’s raining on us, I failed to mention,
endless honor for your part,

Bragging photos in hotel mirrors,
dragging, sputter, and overheating.
“Love me,” through clenched teeth, you keep repeating,
when you notice it unfold,
and you’re told it’s all your fault,
look how lonesome you become,
you lose your mind in double time.

And it starts and ends here,
all of the parts where I believed that it was me.

I have been true to who I was then,
