Grafham Soundscape by Laica
From a recent set of recording taken around the waters edge at Grafham water reservoir.
Grafham Water Reservoir was created in the 1960s to supply drinking water to the new town of Milton Keynes. Originally named Diddington Reservoir after Diddington Brook whose shallow valley it floods, it is the third largest reservoir by area in England but only eighth largest in volume.
In the music of Laica there's a sense of something more concrete having been deliberately and forcibly rubbed away, leaving just a vague impression of a more tangible piece of music. The effect is haunting, the musical equivalent of trying to remember a dream when all that's left is the barest trace outline.
