This is a collection of early iPhone recordings, demos sent between group chats, and weird banter. I've known Jorge and Luis for what seems like all my life. And I met Nima in 2013 at some point.
But I never really knew all of them like I do now until we, along with the welcome addition of Kai Leong, decided to form a band.
It was a dark and stormy night in 2016 when we all (Luis, Nima, and I. Kai went separately after sneaking out of his house as he was grounded for something or other) went to someone's house for a jam night.
Finding ourselves disappointed by acoustic renditions of riptide, we elected to bail and head back to Luis' house and jam there. As he had an (electronic) drum kit and an amp or two.
After jamming and getting somewhere but also nowhere, Jorge joined in as well. With him on guitar we slapped on some weird casio jazz drum pattern, some noises of cats meowing. And decided we would make a song around that. That song was called Cats.
It's been a crazy almost four years with these guys. We've played gigs, got intoxicated together, recorded a couple EPs, and even did a (sparsely attended) tour across Canada.
There have been ups and there have been downs. But one thing is for sure, I wouldn't have it any other way.
Now with this Covid-19 situation, we aren't quite sure the next time we'll be able to get together. So we've decided to release this as a fun little behind the scenes look at KBS. I hope you enjoy.
